
Almonaster la Real and its wonderful Mosque
October 3, 2018In this new post in the series of Spanish pueblos, today we bring a little about Almonaster la Real, a Spanish municipality of the province of Huelva, Andalusia.
Almonaster la Real is one of the highest points of Huelva and next to Portugal, even in the past it was owned by Portugal, this small town draws attention for being among the 250 most beautiful pueblos in Spain and its main attraction is a mosque of the time of the Arab invasion, which took place in Andalusia, the mosque is built on top of Roman ruins.
A Mesquita of Almonaster la Real, was built between the ninth and tenth centuries, inside has remains of other buildings such as an old castle, the mosque has the famous Arabian arches present in various constructions of the Andalusian region, as the Cathedral of Cordoba Mosque and the Alhambra, I Granada.
With Roman elements, caliphates and Christians, It was declared a National Monument in 3 June 1931, a mixture of cultures was wonderful.
