Spanish citizenship by Sefardies Act and the famous list of the surnames of Social Networks
January 18, 2017Sometime ago, was published on social networks several posts that spoke that if you had any of those surnames Spaniards that post the list could take Spanish citizenship, the list with surnames Spaniards It is false but the law is true.
Jews were also expelled from Spain in the fourteenth century, and this law came to give nationality to their descendants, only it is unrelated to the surname, anyone who has that seed may request, but you must have some documents.
Basically you have to prove that you are a descendant of those Jews expelled from Spain.
The condition of Sephardic originating in Spain is evidenced by the following elements, evaluated as a whole:
a) Certificate issued by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain. b) Certificate issued by the President or similar accusation of the Jewish community in the area of residence or hometown of the person concerned. c) Certificate competent rabbinical authority, legally recognized in the country of habitual residence of the applicant.
Attention the law only applies by 3 years, by June 2018.
