March 23, 2022At the beginning of March we visited Milan, a trip that was pending since before the pandemic started and how we got a credit in the Innside by Meliá Milano Torre Galfa hotel that we booked through Booking, a hotel we recommend, despite not being so close to the city star, the Milan Cathedral, at famous Milan Cathedral, it's about 2.7 km, the hotel is next to the city's central train and metro station, but we did everything walking, we like to walk a lot to get to know the cities we visit.
We went on a Thursday night and came back on a Sunday night., enough time to explore the city well, We passed the Cathedral several times during our stay, day and night, when it gets all lit up and gets even more beautiful with its gothic architecture, which began to be built in the year 1386 and took over 400 years to be ready, but it was really worth it to take so long, because she is beautiful, without a doubt the icing on the Milan cake, it is in the central part of the city in a huge square, with the name that couldn't be different, Piazza del Duomo, it's a must go place, in the same square there is the famous Galeria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is also beautiful, with a spectacular construction with a ceiling and a jaw-dropping floor.
Although we passed by it several times when we were there, we left to get to know the Duomo di Milano from the inside only on the last day, because we could meet without rush and it was great, for it was the day that made the best time since we arrived, a super blue and sunny day, the Cathedral is very imposing, has 5 ships inside, with beautiful stained glass, but the part we liked the most because we found it very different, it was her terrace, which you will be able to contemplate a beautiful view of Milan, you can choose to take the elevator or stairs, we suggest taking the elevator as the stairs must be quite heavy, we took the elevator, but to go down you can only go down stairs, so we had an idea of how it must be a bit heavy to climb stairs since there is an elevator, and the difference in value is so small that we don't think it's worth the savings. We also advise you to buy tickets in advance toHi there's a lots tourists in the city so you don't run the risk of not being able to your ticket and having to wait in huge queues, definitely worth knowing, it is one of the most beautiful cathedrals we have ever been.
And close to the Cathedral there are several good restaurants., but we went on one that despite not being very cheap, but also nothing exorbitant, we pay 100 euros the couple with 1 great starter dish, 2 wonderful main courses and wine, we left very happy, everything we ate was excellent and well worth it., and we went by accident, no indication from anyone, so we leave the tip here of the restaurant Al Cantinone.
Milan is an expensive city?
We found it compared to several cities in Spain and Portugal, a little expensive place, with the food a little expensive, hotels and beers in the bars we passed we paid at least the 5 euros (sim, we use beer a lot as one of the bases to know if places are expensive lol), but it is far from being as expensive a city as the countries of Northern Europe, but even so it is very worth knowing and we recommend.
