Marrakesh
July 12, 2016Marrakesh, It is not the capital of Morocco as many find, the capital is Rabat, Marrakesh, It should be one of the most famous cities of the country, and has many flights there from various countries of Europe, with a very low values.
Taking advantage of this low value on air tickets to Marrakesh coming out of Europe, and especially Dublin town where we were living, We bought the tickets to pass 5 days there, because the flight Dublin out every Thursday and Sunday, Also there are cheap flights out there from Spain.
We decided to go there because we wanted to see the sun and feel the warmth of it, it was winter in Dublin, and it is very cold, rainy and dark (in winter darkens the 16hs), and it is one of the few places closer, with heat, even in late winter.
we stayed at The Semiramis hotel and resort, to enjoy the sunny days in the hotel pool, Morocco is much cheaper than Europe, there you can get into a paying roughly resort 100 euros 5 days the couple.
The hotel was very good, but nothing spectacular, the pool that was what we wanted most, fulfilled its role, It is the best thing in the hotel, there Marrakesh few people speak English and the hotel also had a few people or almost no one who spoke English, only I had a receptionist who spoke a little Spanish, there they talk about everyone the French, It is the official language and the Moroccan Arabic.
In the hotel happened two funny and boring stories at the same time, the first was that our room had a disco sound noise all night, After 1 the morning, on the second day we asked to change room and they exchanged after two sleepless nights, on the second night we found that the sound was a ballad (one night club, which was next to the hotel, actually kind of looked inside the hotel), we knew that there was very common, ballads with prostitution, but after we changed room was okay.
Another funny thing was after returning from the trip to Ait Ben Haddou, We arrived at the hotel almost 22h, starving and the restaurant was closed but we had seen that had room service (room service) 24 hours, after showering because the ride was beautiful, but tiring, we called the room service person meets, He speaks only in French, and he said it was closed but would call back, We waited a while and nothing, I decided to go down to the front desk and there I found that the room service was really 24 hours, but the kitchen was up 22.30, I thought we ready to go without food after a tiring day, I returned to the room and spoke to the Pri, the attendant's room service went there too to talk about this and was given a bottle of water for us, I told Pri that we would not sleep without eating, I was again at the front desk to see if I could something that could deliver at the hotel, I called the front desk to the Mc Donalds and anything they answer the phone, there the receptionist said she could have some restaurants near the hotel open, I went there to venture into Marrakesh 23hs behind food, the hotel was in a zone without resorts, Pri this time was worried I get about town, It was like a 5 blocks have not seen problem in going, just I did not think anything of restaurant where the guy had spoken, I decided to go back to the hotel, but on the way I remembered that a street right near the hotel had, a place that was written snacks, I thought ok let's eat some snacks and beauty, do what right? getting there, luckily the waiter spoke English and gave me a menu with various types of food, phew we get to eat, I ordered a small pizza and an x-burger, the good of all this was that eat snacks on other days also, it was cheaper than the hotel and the food was very good.
Things to do in Marrakesh and Morocco and what are the main attractions of Marrakech and Morocco.
Coming back to the trip, of 4 days we had in Marrakesh, decided two days stay at the hotel, enjoying the sun and the pool, in others 2 days, one did a wonderful ride (see here the tours we have coming out of Marrakesh) the Atlas mountains, Ouarzazate and the incredible fortified city of Hadoo of Ait Ben see the post ride, the other day we decided to visit Marrakesh.
On the evening of the first day we stayed at the hotel enjoying the pool we went to the central square of Morocco Jema el Fnaa, which day has the snake charmers the trainers of monkeys and night rolls a type of food outdoor fair, the place is very different from all, with plenty of tourists and many Moroccans, eat at one of the good food stalls is cheap, the harder it is to choose, because everyone comes to talk to you and offer the foods, It is a zone, but it was worth it.

We also know the Koutobia Mosque one of the city's symbols and one of the largest mosques, is very beautiful is a construction 1147 and night is all lit up, The tower has 69 meters and a width of 12,8 meters. Its interior consists of six rooms, one above the other, crossed by a ramp that allowed the muezzin get to the tower balcony. It was built in the traditional Almohad and the tower is adorned with four copper globes. Situated next to the Jamaa el Fna, It stands out your tower 69 m height, the tallest building in the city.
On the second day we went passed it to Ait Ben Haddou, see how beautiful this city is, the ride costs around 50 Euro per person and lasts all day from 8am to 22h, this tour is required to, there Marrakesh has many cool rides, another that stands out is camping in the Sahara Desert, some friends did and loved, He did not because he had done something very similar in Deserto Dubai. Just wrote a post about the tour see here.
On the third day we were enjoying the hotel and lunch snacks next to the hotel (we buy and take to the pool, farofeiros same lol), when we decided to go there, We surveyed had alcoholic drink in the hotel and in the city because in those countries with most mulçulmana not sell alcoholic beverages, We bought drinks at the free shopping Dublin, but we could have bought in Marrakesh free shopping (but more expensive) and the hotel where we also had drink, and it was not expensive was around 2 euros, then when it was over our drink we had bought at free shopping Dublin, We drank the hotel and was not expensive.
The night we had thought of going to a restaurant with typical shows, but it was very expensive, I turn to 100 euros, so we were not and we had already seen a bit like the Cappadocia.
In the fourth and last day we did the city tour of Marrakesh and visited the following attractions:
Koutoubia Mosque
Praça central Jemaa El Fnaa
Bab Agnaou portal
Mesquita Moulay El Yazid
Tumbás Saadian
El Badii Palace
Synagogue
Bahia Palace
Souks
Almoravid Koubba
Marrakesh Museum
Ben Youssef Mosque
Marrakech is, no doubt, one of the most stimulating cities I know. I love the twilight both of the dawn and of its end. I came back in 2019 and hope to return again soon 🙂
Marrakech is a place we always want to return to.
Marrakesh is a fascinating place. I love mosques and palaces with their very characteristic architecture! And the snake charmers, very interesting! Thank you for the tips!
Thanks for visiting Mariana.
I really want to know Morocco! You saw women traveling alone in Marrakesh? I usually travel only, but I don't know if it would be safe to travel like that there…
lidiane, Morocco is a safe country to travel smoothly, even going alone. As there are all countries it is always good to be cautious.
I really want to visit Marrakesh, and several others in Morocco, very interesting all the tips, the city is rich in culture. I hope to go very soon!
That's right Morocco has a rich culture and beautiful cities like Marrakesh
I went to Marrakesh alone a few years ago and loved it! I also had funny stories and perrengue for not speaking French… haha
But I loved it!
We also love Marrakesh
I had never stopped to read anything about Marrakesh and it seemed like a very interesting destination and totally different from anything we've ever seen.. And hotel prices are very inviting.
Fabíola there everything is very cheap.
I loved your post, made me even more fascinated to meet Marracos, the photos are beautiful, congratulations.
Deisy thanks for visiting
I don't know Marrakesh yet ! This text of yours excited me even more to know the city! I hope it will be soon because I am passionate about these constructions!
Marrakesh will thrill you is a beautiful city.
I passed through Morocco on a cruise, but I was not enchanted. Maybe I have to go back and learn more. The pool at your hotel seemed inviting, but what a boring story of nightclub music at night! I would be very upset. Glad you managed to get around this problem.
And some trips we can have small problems in hotel, when we have no indication, why we gave the tip.
Marrakech seems to be cute! I got to know the north of Morocco but I need to go back to see the main cities!
All that's left is to buy the tickets.
