Morella, a city walled
March 18, 2019Morella is one such medieval towns in Spain we love to visit, We love this air of medieval walled, with castles, towers and alleys.
The city is located in the far north of Valencia and only 60 kilometers from the coast, Morella draws our eyes and visitors the charm that transmits, the landscape, and secular walls crowned by rugged castle which is at the highest point of the city, the wall has sixteen towers, six gates and nearly two kilometers of walls forming a single silhouette, crowned by the imposing castle.
Morella was declared a Historical and Artistic Heritage, with an excellent job of municipal rehabilitation which was recognized by the World Heritage cities with the Heritage Award and that has the UNESCO Declaration on the rock shelter of Morella la Vella, this city also seduce you by your tradition, monuments, gastronomy, folklore and its surroundings.
We visited the city in a script that made for several cities in the region and, Morella was one of the stops to visit, in fact she was not in the script but on the way Valderrobres e Linares de Mora, we have seen the road its imposing walls and entrance gate with two tall towers, so that before the city had a beautiful Aqueduct of Saint Lucia Morella.
After seeing this gem, We decided to change a bit the script of the day and stopped to visit, we started by St. Michael's Gate, we have seen the road, Besides the walls, the Torres and gates, O Castelo de Morella It is a much visited tourist attraction, only when we were in town we visit for only opened later and that the delay.
I am afraid Morella Igreja da Santa Maria la Major, another mandatory place to visit, also we strolled the city streets that are very beautiful.
