What to do in the Ebro Delta?
July 7, 2021Have you ever heard of the Rio Ebro, one of the main rivers in Spain? And you know what to do in the Ebro Delta? Here we are going to tell our experience in this natural paradise that is the Ebro Delta Natural Park.
The Ebro Delta is almost at the end of the State of Catalonia, already on the border with the State of Valencia, is a very wide region with some small towns like Amposta, Delteebre, Sant Jaume d´Enveja, in this paradise we find a natural park, thousands of rice plantations, lagos, long and beautiful beaches, kitesurfing and windsurfing schools and many, many birds, inclusive flamingos.
We've been thinking about getting to know this region for some time., but it never worked and we ended up going somewhere else, but on the second Easter holiday here in Catalonia that fell in May, we were traveling to a city on the Delta side, the city of Vinarós, already in Valencia. In Vinarós we stayed 3 days, on the last day we went to the Ebro Delta on the way back to Barcelona.
We stayed in the Ebro Delta Natural Park for a whole day, and we are already thinking and come back one day with Motorhome, which seems like staying there for a few days at Motorhome must be really cool.
What to do in the Ebro Delta?
We spent a short time in the Ebro Delta made me want to stay longer, and how we comment, we will come back on another trip, it's a very beautiful place that surprised us a lot..
Rice planting
As it is a lowland region with a lot of water from the Ebro river, has thousands of rice plantations, typical of Spain, that flood the crop fields for rice growth, the dirt and asphalt roads that pass through the plantations, are beautiful, we took several pictures.
spot birds
Because of the rice plantations and the many lakes, is a region with many birds of all species, both those who eat in the rice fields and those who live in the lakes.
In the part of the lagoons there are several viewpoints to see the birds, where many tourists and photographers go to see this diversity, we had already passed through many lakes with flamingos, of course Cyprus, or Amsterdam, but in Cyprus we couldn't see it and in Amsterdam it was a kind of zoo, so it wasn't as cool as it was this time when these beautiful pink birds were out in the wild right next to us.
Delta do Ebro beaches
The Delta has extensive beaches on both sides of the shore of the Ebro river, the one on the right is the farthest and busiest, but even busy it is so far away that it is almost a deserted and calm beach.
These are beautiful beaches with fine sand, it's not a Costa Brava or a beach of Balearic Island, but it's very beautiful, very extensive and different.
Hiking and Bike Tours
Many people go to this region for a bike ride, or walking along the roads that cut through the rice fields, many of these people spend weeks there in their Motorhomes.
Kitesurf
As it is a part with many lagoons and inlets of the sea, with very calm water and a lot of wind, is a place to practice Kitesurfing and Windsurfing, there are a lot of people who go there with their equipment or go to learn the sport at the various schools that have there.
good now that you know what to do in the Ebro Delta, just go there and enjoy this natural paradise.
