Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate is a city in southern Morocco, popularly dubbed “Desert port”. It is the provincial capital, which is part of the Souss-Massa-Drâa region.

Ouarzazate is located after the Atlas mountains, It is the center passage of a vast region of southern Morocco, transition between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert.

Things to Do in Ouarzazate, and what are the main attractions of Ouarzazate.

One of the major tourist attractions of the city and the surrounding region the numerous Casbas built of rammed earth, mountains and arid plains, the valleys and lush oasis, the palm groves and villages of red clay or ocher. The symbol of the city is the kasbah of Taourirt, the old palace-fortress of the Pasha El Glaoui, built in the mid-eighteenth century. The most famous place there is the small fortified town of Ait Ben Haddou (see the post about this city), which is located more or less 1 hour drive.

We went there as we made our trip to Marrakesh, we were four days in Marrakesh and one of these days we made a tour visiting the Atlas mountains, the city of Ait Ben Haddou and end stop in Ouarzazate.

When we bought the tour and saw the photos of the places we would go, I think the amazing pictures was Ouarzazate, but in fact is Ait Ben Haddou.

Ouarzazate has little time to walk around 1 hour, then gets more time in Ait Ben Haddou, and the stop is to visit a film studio, We not find interesting to know.

Visits to kasbah of Taourirt and some buildings near, We not enter it because the tour was guided and would take longer than had.

The point of this tour is to start Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate and Mountain High only to give a visitadinha.
